The LAS is used to map the typical eddies (called swoddies) of the Navidad current. For this 2009-2010 winter, it is relatively well marked, correlated with a negative NAO index.
Jan. 29, 2010: Seasonal reverse in the Somali current
Along the Somali coast, the seasonal circulation changes drastically with a spectacular reverse in the Somali current.
