10.04.2024 [SWOT] Version C KaRIn Science Data Products Release

A brief update on the ongoing reprocessing of SWOT Version C KaRIn science data products:

All KaRIn LR (oceanography) data products from the calibration phase, except for cycle 565 pass 019, have been reprocessed and are now available.

Reprocessing of KaRIn LR products for the science phase continues, and products will continue to be distributed as they become available.

Reprocessed LR science phase data will span cycles 1-9, only.

Forward processed data from cycle 10 onward should be used.

Please note that the reprocessed calibration phase spans March 30 – July 10, 2023, and includes data from cycle 475 pass 26 to cycle 578 pass 004.

27.03.2024 [SWOT] Reduced number of hydrology measurements (HR Mask) - South Africa internet failure

On March 15th, the CNES terrestrial link to South Africa suffered a major internet failure. Since that time it has unfortunately been impossible to recover any telemetry downloaded to our station in Hartebeesthoek. Given the large amount of telemetry generated by the SWOT satellite, the number of passes available in the CNES network to download all the data is insufficient. In order to avoid any loss of measurements, the satellite programming was updated on March 19 to reduce the number of land hydrology measurements (HR Mask) to 45% of the maximum possible data. On March 21, the programming has been re-tuned to increase the available hydrology data to approximately 76%.

Map showing the updated mask reduced to 76%.

This event is temporary and we will return to nominal measurements as soon as the terrestrial link with Hartebeesthoek is re-established.

03.01.2024 [CFOSAT] SWIM specific acquisition sequence from 2024 January 12th to February 7th

A specific acquisition sequence of the SWIM instrument will be effective from 2024 January the 12th to February the 7th, which corresponds to CFOSAT orbital cycles 147 and 148.

During this period, the macrocycle, i.e. the sequence of beams illuminated, will be 0°, 2°, 10°, 10°, 10°, instead of the usual 0°, 2°, 4°, 6°, 8°, 10° sequence.

This specific programming of the instrument aims at getting data to analyze the impact and possibilities linked to the repeated sampling of the 10° beam on the Wave spectra and derived parameters performance.

Products will be delivered as usual during the period.

After the 7th of February, the instrument will come back to usual programming (0°, 2°, 4°, 6°, 8°, 10°).

08.11.2023 [TOPEX] release of the fully reprocessed Geophysical Data Record (GDR-F version)

Dear AVISO users,

We are pleased to announce the release of a fully reprocessed version of the TOPEX/POSEIDON Geophysical Data Record (GDR-F version).

After an exhaustive examination of all archived information from the TOPEX/POSEIDON mission by NASA and CNES teams, this product has been generated by reprocessing data from the on-board instruments and applying the current GDR-F geophysical models.

More information on reprocessing can be found in the TOPEX/POSEIDON GDR-F user handbook:

31.10.2023 [CFOSAT] SWIM Processing anomaly since Oct 26 9h50TU and until Nov 2 0hTU

A processing anomaly occured on SWIM products on October 26th 9h50TU (beginning of cycle 141) and will continue until November 2nd 0hTU. Thus the delivery of SWIM L2 files is stopped until November 2nd 0hTU and the files delivered on the dissemination services since October 26th 9h50TU will be deleted and should not be used.

All apologize for the inconvenience.

13.10.2023 [SWOT] The reprocessed SWOT 1-day orbit IGDR nadir altimeter products for the period from March 29 to July 10, 2023 are now available at AVISO.

Dear AVISO users,

The reprocessed SWOT 1-day orbit IGDR nadir altimeter products for the period from March 29 to July 10, 2023 are now available at AVISO.

Please note that some gaps remain in this reprocessed time series of IGDRs because either the raw IGDRs were not available or the available IGDRs could not be processed with the current version of the data processing software.

In addition, some outliers have been detected in this release of reprocessed 1-day orbit IGDRs and are being corrected in the processing and production of GDR data products.

However, please note that no additional 1-day orbit L2_NALT_IGDR beta pre-validated products are expected at this time.

The production of SWOT GDR products is expected to improve data availability and quality.

The public release of the SWOT GDRs is planned for the end of 2023.

04.10.2023 [SWOT] Production and release of the SWOT products have resumed on September 28, 2023.

Production and release of the SWOT O/I(GDR) products have resumed in nominal conditions after the restart of SWOT operations on September 28, 2023.

29.09.2023 [SWOT] mission operations were stopped on September 21, 2023 due to a platform anomaly

SWOT mission operations were stopped on September 21, 2023 due to a platform anomaly[more]

08.09.2023 [SWOT] Production and release of O/I(GDR) products have resumed in nominal conditions.

Dear AVISO users,

The SWOT project teams have effectively performed validation procedures of the SWOT O/I(GDR) nadir altimeter and radiometer science data products. Production and release of the SWOT O/I(GDR) products have resumed in nominal conditions. Distribution of the OGDR science data products resumes from September 7, 2023 and onwards, while the distribution of the IGDR starts from July 21, 2023 and onwards.
