The reprocessing covers the full mission from 28 March 2023 (cycle #474, CalVal phase) to 19 June 2026 (Cycle #51 Pass #584, Science phase).

Version 3.0 of the SWOT Level-3 Wind Wave product is now available on AVISO.
The reprocessing covers the full mission from 28 March 2023 (cycle #474, CalVal phase) to 19 June 2026 (Cycle #51 Pass #584, Science phase).
The SWOT Level-3 Wind Wave products are funded by CNES and are formally part of the SWOT Science Team projects VAGUES and DESMOS, also funded by CNES.
The basic geophysical quantity contained in this product is the wave spectrum, derived from the L3 Unsmoothed heights, based on the spectral estimation algorithm presented in Ardhuin et al. (2024). Two types of files are distributed: Light and Extended. The Extended files provide spectra with different spectral resolutions.
This release v3.0 includes, for the first time, a beta-calibrated swath SWH dataset (Bohe et al. 2025), providing an updated version of the Level-2 swath SWH vD0 dataset with reduced orbital-related biases.
In addition, this release v3.0 includes a new swell mask detection algorithm, that allows the detection of multiple distinct swell clusters. The corresponding wave integrated parameters are also provided (significant wave height, wave period, direction and spectral peakedness). The direction is resolved by exploiting the signatures of wave bunching phenomenon in KaRIn data.
Other important evolutions include new and enriched quality flags for the whole spectrum and for each individual swell partition. Input data selection and processing has been improved as well.
The product has been evaluated against both buoy observations and global wave-model simulations. Validation studies have demonstrated the capability of SWOT to observe long-wavelength swell systems with unprecedented spatial detail.
Details are available in this presentation, the product handbook and the product page.
