Saral validation report, cycle 1

Cycle date2013-03-14 - 2013-04-18
Cycle qualityData quality for this cycle is nominal.
Missing dataThis cycle has no missing pass, but due to several events, several passes are partly missing. - Before 2013-03-17, there were acquisition problems for X-band stations which lead to missing ocean data. Hereafter only passes with more than 10% of missing ocean data are listed: * 17% on pass 32 * 79% on pass 33 * 43% on pass 38 * 75% on pass 39 * 34% on pass 44 * 32% on pass 45 * 16% on pass 46 * 53% on pass 47 * 79% on pass 48 * 69% on pass 51 * 55% on pass 52 * 67% on pass 62 * 76% on pass 63 * 56% on pass 64 * 67% on pass 66 * 92% on pass 67 Note that during the first few days of cycle 001, the routine calibrations (generally three per day) were not yet programmed over land (Australia, Africa, Asia), but at fixed hours. This also led to missing sience data over ocean for short durations (around 90 seconds). - Due to expertise calibration on 2013-03-20 from 05:10 to 08:30, there are small data gaps every 10 minutes on passes 172 to 175 (approximately 5% of missing ocean data for each pass). - Due to CAL2 long calibrations on 2013-03-27, passes 372 and 374 are partly missing with respectively 66% and 27% of missing ocean data. - Due to altimeter gain calibrations (though mostly over land), passes 801, 898 and 984 have respectively 20%, 14% and 11% of missing ocean data.
Crossover standard deviation(*)5.16 cm
SLA standard deviation(*)(**)9.51 cm

(*)When using a selection to remove shallow waters (1000 m), areas of high ocean variability and high latitudes (> |50| deg)
(**) relative to a 7-year mean (cycles <= 33) or 20-year mean (cycles >=34)
