Use: study of mean sea level variations, and altimetry data validation
Description: There are several tide gauges available at Senetosa site, named M1, M2, M3, M4, M5 and M7. M1 and M2 are old instruments and do not deliver any data anymore. M3, M4, M5 and M7 are currently measuring sea level.
The construction of the tide gauges was undertaken by the DT-INSU CNRS laboratory, utilizing a Paroscientific pressure sensor 6000-45A. These gauges have been in operation since 2012, replacing the previous AANDERAA tide gauges. These tide gauges are all in place at the four sites (M3, M4, M5 and M7) since August 2014. In order to correct the pressure measurements of the tide gauges for the effects of atmospheric pressure, a precise meteorological station was installed in close proximity to the GNSS receiver at the lighthouse in June 2015. For older data, the atmospheric pressure came from the Ajaccio airport. For details about the history, please refer to Bonnefond et al. (2021, DOI: https://doi.org/10.1016/j.asr.2019.09.049 ).
For Macinaggio, one tide gauge is available named M1. This tide gauge has been removed and is not available since April, 2016.
Senetosa and Macinaggio tide gauges data have been fully reprocessed on March 2025. This reprocessing (consistent for Senetosa and Macinaggio) has been made in order to change ellipsoid reference to GRS80, adjust the vertical references and change the meteorological station which provide atmospheric pressures.
